India // Day 7
By day 7 we were all pretty burnt out from the long days and hot sun. The orphanage was a refreshing change from the multiple days of sight seeing, but there was still one temple that I was dying to see, the Lotus Temple. The day way hot but we still got our tickets and explored the grounds. We were told to take off our shoes before ascending the steps to the temple and the ground was unbelievable hot from the 110 degree weather. The temples architecture was unique and unlike any of the other temples and forts that we visited. It was truly a work of art. The unique quality of the temple was that it was not built for any one religion. With religion being a large part of life in India and a large part of many recent controversies in the country and with Pakistan, a temple of no religion spoke volumes of the times and ideals of the people who created it. We entered the temple and the inside was just as awe inspiring as the outside and simply being in the temple triggered a spiritual response in myself and the other group members.
